A Yoga Teacher Training Immersion in Costa Rica

Presented by: Troy Hadeed and Jennifer Degen

So much of what is needed to truly step into our power as yoga teachers does not come easy and is often not taught at teacher trainings. The objective of this immersion is not only to take you into a depth of daily practice inclusive of asana, meditation, pranayama, and living philosophy; but also to give you the tools to ‘get out of the way’ so that the Yoga can come through. In creating the space to Listen and reflect on our lives we see how it translates into authentic teaching from the heart. Mornings will begin with meditation and pranayama. This will be followed by asana practice rooted in safe intelligent sequencing, intentional mindful movement, and a deep relationship to breath & Spirit. Afternoons we will place our focus on personal development as we review intelligent sequencing, alignment, postures, instruction & cueing. You will have the opportunity to teach and receive supportive feedback; not something experienced teachers often have the opportunity to benefit from. Additionally we will spend time looking at what it means to hold and create space as a teacher on and off the mat, and how to individually refine our inner teachings to reflect what we wish to share with others. In conclusion this immersion is for teachers of all levels and experiences, but also for anyone who may be consider teaching in the future, as we are all teachers in our own right. In reality the foundation of being a powerful teacher is being a humble student, and this can only be cultivated through Listening…

TEACHERS

Troy Hadeed

Troy Hadeed Born on the island of Trinidad & Tobago, Troy Hadeed teaches, practices, and lives yoga to the best of his ability on his home island. He aspires to aid his students on their journey of self-realization and empowerment through breath, alignment, fun, and the courage to go deeper. Believing that our practice on the mat is a direct representation of our daily lives in every way, Hadeed has been trying to live yoga long before he was ever introduced to the asana practice. Originally trained as a Moksha yoga teacher under the guidance of Ted Grand and Jess Robertson, Troy Hadeed has since studied with Ryan Leier, Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, and Eugene & Jesse Poku. In an effort to change the world, he has brought his dedication and focus onto his mat and into his teaching. Whether a simple beginners practice, foundations, or intense advanced transitions, Hadeed aims to offer his students an avenue to connect with mindfulness, their body, the GOD of their own understanding, & LOVE. Troy Hadeed he encourages practitioners to begin with themselves, on their mat. How can we have a world that is at peace and harmony if the individuals that make up that world cannot find that within themselves. Through the cultivation of relationship and mindfulness we eventually come to realize the Sacred and Divine in everything, beginning with Self.

Jennifer Degen

I am a trained Somatic Psychotherapist and have been interested in the mind body connection through my work as a therapeutic recreation specialist and therapist for over thirty years. Fifteen years ago, my meditation teacher Joni Zweig (Cirasmita) gave me my meditation name, Jayalila. In 2011, eleven women traveled to San Pancho, Mexico, and Jayalila Retreats was born. The women inspired me to continue creating unique experiences, explore beautiful places, and engage different village communities. Retreat participants who adventure with us help to inspire future retreats. In essence, our students are our teachers. They have taught us that when people are inspired to take risks, meet new friends, travel internationally, and practice yoga and meditation, an amazing retreat experience is about to unfold. At Jayalila Retreats, we are passionate about cultivating the mind-body connection and the grounding, clarity and peace that this connection offers us.
